Beating Exhaustion

We all have busy schedules with work and/or school that can lead to effecting your life with exhaustion, which includes not wanting to come into UKB for a workout. Some common causes of feeling this way could be from:
- Stress
- Boredom
- Lack of sleep
- Anxiety
- Drug / Alcohol use
- Depression
- Overworking
By taking care of yourself physically and mentally, you can overcome the feeling of daily exhaustion.

Enjoying the sunshine during the morning and early afternoon can help improve the rest of your day. When your eyes detect light, your brain produces a chemical known as serotonin. This chemical is like a happiness potion that perks you up. You also gain Vitamin D from sunshine that helps strengthen your bones and improve your immune system, which will help you feel stronger towards not feeling exhausted.

A lack of energy can make it harder for you to get through a tough day. Having a good intake of foods with a higher source of healthy energy can help out a lot. Whole Grains will give you carbohydrates that will fuel the body with natural energy. Fruits break down into sugar when consumed that will help give you the boost that you’ll need.  You should try to avoid caffeine since it’ll only give you an unhealthy short term boost which won’t benefit your workout.  Have a read at our previous blog, The Importance Of Breakfast, that will be very helpful as well.

Using general common sense will help as well. Sometimes you don’t realize the problem until someone points it out for you so that you can look into it. If you think you may be lacking in sleep, spend some time re-adjusting your schedule to fit in a few more hours. A body that isn’t well rested will result in poor performance. If drugs and/or alcohol are your thing, re-evaluating your usage or not even using them at all will be beneficial.
